News > Promising testing debut for Andrew Higginbottom

05/07/2007

Andrew Higginbottom, 21 from Llantwit Major near Llandow, Cardiff recently tested a Formula Ford for the first time with Wayne Poole Racing at Castle Combe. Andrew’s previous racing experience had included the 5 day course at Silverstone, where he took his ARDS test and won the end of course race, and a few laps of Llandow in a Ginetta. Despite his limited experience Andrew was quickly on the pace in a Wayne Poole Reynard FF89, setting an impressive 1m 14.3s in only his second session before a spin at Quarry and a trip across the kerbs tore out a rear suspension mount and disappointingly ended testing for the day. Andrew reported being very comfortable in the car and felt confident that more was to come as he gained familiarity with both car and course. However, more than enough promise had been shown for both the team and the driver to be keen to repeat the exercise when circumstances permit. At this stage Andrew would like to test again and ultimately enter Class C in a Castle Combe Championship Formula Ford race.
