WPR Dominate Castle Combe Formula Ford

At the Castle Combe Racing Club Whitsun Bank Holiday raceday at Combe on May 29th the WPR team scored a double win in the Formula Ford championship race with Josh Fisher taking a pole to flag victory in Richard Hudson-Evans' Van Diemen RF99/JL14 and Andrew Higginbottom beating all the Class B and C cars to finish sixth in the team's Van Diemen RF88.

Morning practice was dry and Josh took pole with a 1m 10.369s effort and Andrew was the best Class C car on 1m 14.140s. By the time race start came around the track was very wet but despite (or because of?) this Josh led away with Andrew up to fourth! However, a red flag led to a restart and, while Josh led away again, Andrew was running in sixth where he stayed until the finish, well ahead of all the other Class B & C cars and taking the fastest lap for Class C (and B).

The results leave Josh just a couple of points behind Michael Moyers in the Championship while Andrew has a huge lead for Class C honours.

Graham Cox had a good day in the Hot Hat Challenge with his Renault Clio. He qualified comfortably mid field and went on to finish 13th in another wet race. It was also wet for the Saloon Car race where Steve Bracegirdle had another outing in the team's Mini Cooper and improved on his grid position by finishing 17th. The Mini was out again for the Dave Allan trophy enduro race with Steve sharing the car with Team Boss, Wayne Poole. After qualifying mid grid the pair had a good race finishing inside the top 10.
