A very mixed bag but a class win for Fisher win to celebrate at Oulton

The August 30th meeting at Oulton Park featured Formula Ford races for the Northern FF Championship (Post '89 and Pre '90) as well as the National FF Championship.

The WPR team were represented by Calum McHale (Mygale SJ01), Josh Fisher (Reynard 89FF) and Steve Bracegirdle (Van DFiemen RF89).

The first event was for the Pre '90 cars and practice had gone well for Josh, setting a time just a tenth off pole for a front row grid slot when, on the last lap, he had an off damaing the car including the chassis. Sterling work by the team saw the car ready to start the race but on the green flag lap an HT lead became disconnected (a legacy of the shunt) and Josh was unable to start the race. However, Steve had qualified well in tenth place and had a good race to come home seventh beating his previous best time at Oulton three laps on the trot.

In the post '89 race Calum qualified a, what turned out to be, unlucky 13th because on the first lap of the race he went off and didn't let go of the steering wheel in time and dislocated his thumb.

Finally both Josh and Steve were out for the National race and although having to start a lowly 14th Josh drove a magnificent race climbing in the damp conditions to third at the finish, winning Class C and taking fastest lap in the class. A small but worthy consolation for the day's earlier misfortune. Steve also had a good race, qualifying 17th and coming home in 14th place
